One of the major American think-tanks - Atlas Economic Research Foundation – organized an international conference of libertarian groups in Canada, from 5 till 7 August 2007. The Project Lodz has been represented by the member of the Board of the Society Marcin Nowacki.
The discussion was related to numerous problems of the development / decrease of political and economic freedom is certain countries. During the pannel debates and economic gatherings, the representatives of think-tanks, entrepreneurs and politicians analyzed current chalenges, which different regions face, as well success stories in economies’ liberalization and construction of civil societies.
Such issues as situation in Belarus (Jaroslav Romanchuk of the Scientific Research Mises Center in Minsk), the United States (Stephen’a Moore of The Wall Street Journal), Montenegro (Vaselin Vukotic, School of International Economy, Finance and Business) and India (Parth Shah, the Centre for Civil Society) was were mentioned. One of main speakers was also Mr. Mart Laar, the former prime minister of Estonia, who presented his experiences in introducing market reforms.
A chain of informal meetings was of equal importance for the integration of libertarian groups. Not only common projects and ideas were build, but also links of personal friendship established. The conference took place in a very picturesque town of Niagara-on-the-lake.
