Efficient urban management – advices from the US
On 12 December two exceptional events took place in Lodz. For the Project Lodz’s invitation our city was visited by the American experts in the field of urban management: Bret Schundler (the mayor of Jersey), Ester Fuchs (Columbia University professor and New York’s mayor advisor 2001-2005) and Julia Vitulo-Martin (the Manhattan Institute). In the morning our guests met Lodz entrepreneurs whereas during the afternoon they shared their experiences with the local students in the premises of the University. The topics of both events concerned means of creating a friendly climate for making business in modern metropolies, based on examples of New York and New Jersey. Surprizingly, the American cities used to be bothered by the same problems, as Lodz faces nowadays. The difference is that in the US decision-makers already know how to deal with them.
The meetings were co-organized by the Lodz’s American Corner, British-Polish Chamber of Commerce in Lodz and the student union of the Faculty of International and Political Studies at the University of Lodz.
