The next guest who has been invited to our Political Club is father Maciej Zieba, a Dominican theologist, philosopher and journalist. The topic of the meeting, which will take place on May 20, is “Can a Christian be rich?”. The Exact data and venue shall be announced later.

Father Maciej ZiebaGraduate of the University of Wroclaw, where studied physics, Maciej Zieba joint the Dominican Order in 1981. From 1973 linked with democratic opposition: he was a member of the board and a vice-president of the Catholic Intelligentsia Club (KIK), in 1980 became an expert of Solidarnosc in Lower Silesia region. He created and edited the paper “Lower Silesian Solidarity”, later on moved to the central office of the “Solidarnosc” weekly in Warsaw.
In 1997 obtained a PhD degree; scholar of the University in Eichstätt, the Catholic University of America (Washington DC) and the American Enterprise Institute in Washingtonie DC. Lecturer at numerous academies in Poland and abroad.
In 1995 father Zieba established the Tertio Millenio Institute in Cracow, of which now he is a director. 1998-2006 in charge of Polish Dominicans, from 2007 director of the European Center of Solidarity in Gdansk. Member of a program board of the Studium Generale Europa at the Academy of Catholic Theology in Warsaw, at the Adam Smith Center and at the political quarterly Civitas.
He published several books: “Black and White Notes” (1986), “Christianity, Democracy and Capitalism” (1993, with A. Ranscher and M. Novak), “After and Before the Damage” (1996), “Democracy and Contr-evangelisation” (1997), “Amazing Potificate” (1997), “Popes and Capitalism” (1998) as well as hundreds of articles in Polish and world journals.
