Projekt Łodź
Joe Rospars in Lodz
20 marca 2009

Joe Rospars, the new media manager of the Obama's presidential campaigne visited Lodz on March 18, invited by the Project Lodz Foundation and the American Embassy in Poland. Co-creator of a brand new way of running politics thanks to the Internet explained his methodology during meetings at the Faculty of International Studies (the University of Lodz) and the Lodz Film Academy.

The Obama campaigne has been directed to the different kind of voters than its traditional counterparts. Normally, the candidate tries to convince those, who did not take their decision yet. Rospars' idea was to focus on dedicated Democrats in order to massively include them into the political activity in favour of their candidate.

Three main pillars of the campaigne were: authencity, transparency and participation. All the activists were regularly delivered with the up-to-date information, Internet served as a fundraising medium, whereas local communities have been enouraged to organize their own initiatives of Obama's support. Films and on-line clips proved heavy participation of volunteers for his cause, while most of them were made by the voluneers themselves. A special website was created in order to focus common efforts. On-line fundraising allowed the Democrats to raise 500 million dollars from c.a. 3 million donors; most of donations did not exceed 100 $.
