John Norquist in Lodz
20 grudnia 2009
The long-term mayor of Milwaukee, Mr. John Norquist, who is perceived as a pioneer of crucial reforms in municipal management, was our guest on December 4-5.
On the first day of his stay he delivered a lecture for the students of the Department of Spacial Planning at the University of Lodz. Its title was: ‘Wealth of cities. Governance in metropolitan areas'. Afterwards, Mr. Norquist met the local architects, discussing the so-called ‘new urbanism' as a tool to modernize post-communist cities. In both cases he tackled the transportation problems and municipal management in American cities.
On December 5 Mr. Norquist inaugurated the Modern State Academy of our Foundation, whereas on December 3 he was a guest of honour of the ‘Innowator' gala held in Warsaw by the Adam Smith Research Centre.
